Car Rental, Driving around the city of Osaka
Driving in Osaka can be difficult and as a result, many visitors opt to use the comprehensive network of public transport, underground subway trains and local taxi cabs. To be able to hire a car at Kansai Airport you will need to present an International Driving Permit.
Please note that many of the routes around Osaka include a number of major tollways, all of which apply steep charges. Whilst driving around the city centre is possible, it can be slow going and the best way to explore this area is on foot. Close to the city and within easy driving distance are Kameoka, Kyoto and Takatsuki, while to the west you will find Kobe and Kakogawa.
